Subject: Let's get practical, [firstname].

Hi [firstname],

OK, with your niche sorted it's time to start the practicalities of building your online business. There are two things you'll need: A domain name, and a website hosting account. Even if you're going to be e-mail marketing, you'll still meed a website for people to visit and sign up. Today I'm going to talk about domain names and tomorrow I'll talk about website hosting.

Getting your domain name right is crucial. If you have an offline business, then of course, you will want to register THAT name as a domain as it will already be associated with your company or brand.

If you're starting from scratch, though, things become more complicated. You'll want your domain name to be memorable, but also to reflect the nature of your business and your niche. It's a good idea to include at least one keyword in your domain name. Not only will this cement what your website is about in your customers' minds, but it can also help with search engine optimization (SEO).

The best way that I know to find relevant keywords is to use the Google AdWords Keyword Planner https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner. This is a tool designed to help with Google AdWords (more about those in a few days), but it's also great for finding keywords for other purposes. It's free to use, but you will need to sign up.

When you've decided on your domain name, you'll need to register it. I recommend GoDaddy [YOUR GODADDY AFFILIATE LINK HERE] as their prices are reasonable and they offer 24/7 support.

Pay attention to your domain extension. If you're marketing to a world-wide audience, then stick with a .com extension. If you're a local marketeer, then a country specific extension like .co.uk or .com.au is fine. Avoid some of the more exotic extensions like .biz or .me as they don't look very professional. Even though registrars will try and sell you web hosting (and vice versa), you should keep your domain registration and hosting separate as this will give you more flexibility.

Warmly,

[Your Name]
